about

The first single, “Brick Wall,” is an old-timey blue song telling the tale of a lone traveler who goes from busking with a “two-string fiddle” and a cardboards sing that says “ The Band’s Here to Play” to being arrested for trespassing on the steps of a church and getting beat-up in a small town country jail. Sweet repeats the chorus “I must of hit a big brick wall; I had to hit a big brick wall.”

lyrics

My bottoms always rocky
I’m allergic to alcohol
I landed here in a gray hound station
Waiting in a bathroom stall
Got my head in my hands
my pants to my ankles
I aint got a dime to call
My bottoms always rocky
I think I hit a big brick wall

I think hit a big brick wall
I must have hit a big brick wall

East bound to Allen town
I aint got a spot to play
I got a two-string fiddle
With a bucket in the middle
and a sign says the bands here to play
The sun went up
The sun went down
I aint made a dollar today
Ill count the stars
And Ill count my penny’s
Didn’t want to hit the bar anyway

Chorus

They got me in
For trespassing
Must have been a sign I didn’t see
And the church house steps
Looked dryer then the rest
and the ground aint got nothing on me
The got me in
With a big old man
Came a rumbling and tumbling at me
He got me with
one good right hand
And a left that didn’t see
